The Vision to start Living Christian Bible Church was received in 1987. After 10 years of physical and spiritual preparation, our General Overseer, Pastor Monday gathered a few brethren at the close of 1996, and shared the vision with them. Having resigned his Church membership from Pentecostal Mission where he was a chorus leader and a Deacon , Pastor Monday tarried with the Lord in prayer or three months.
Our history is clean and transparent. We did not break out from any Church or any ministry. Our General Overseer’s exit from his former church was such that he physically resisted his former church members who felt that they were lead to worship with him from doing so. Hence he built membership through prayer and evangelism.
On Webdnesay, 26th Februalry 1997, Pator Monday made his first outing in a rented shop of about 10ft at No 12 Igwurita Road Rumukwurushi, Port Harcourt. On Friday, 28 February of the same year, Living Christian Bible Church had her first formal prayer meeting at Goman International Secondary School that was then ar Igwuruta road with few Children and three adults including Brother Norman Chukwu
Our first Sunday service was held at St. john’s primary school at rumuokwurusi, Port Harcourt on 2nd March 1997. Pastor Monday would come in the morning , sweep the class room that we were using ( sometimes of human wastes), poured kerosene on the spots that were terrible messed up to kill the odor and later carry benches from the hired store and generally get the Church ready for service. He will then go home, take bath and come with the family for worship.
With Government Legislation on the use of school as worship centers becoming tougher, coupled with logistics problems, the church transferred to Elelenwo; first no 3 Onwuchekwa Close where we were using a canopy and to no 191 Old refinery road where we hired a plot of land and built a batcher. In 2002, when we were issued a quit notice by our landlord, the Lord of all the lands used Evangelist Lovett Ibefrom Enugu to raise fund for land purchase. By donating some money on that day for the church land, Pastor Monday was challenged and in addition to a cash donation, also gave out his Mercedes car for the Church to sell for the land, and they did. Other also responded positively and we bought two and half plots of land and built our first permanent structure in 44 days and we left the batcher before the expiration of the quit notice.
Between March 1997 and 2011, the Church had several challenges that nearly packed her uo but Godo helped us to stay afloat. Our humble beginning has gracefully and gloriously changed. With our own permanent structures, many pastors and branches in Nigeria networking with other ministries and Churches across the globe, our history has turned to an eloquent testimony to the fact that God is able. “if you say yes, God cannot say no”
We started with a humble beginning by his grace, we have grown in to a big family where His presence is always felt.
